For children – give them a card to carry, and instruct them how and when to use it (pretty intuitive for you to explain to your children).  Convince them not to respond to threats or promises, such as, “We are going to help your Mommy and Daddy, but first you have to tell us that they snort cocaine, or we will take you to jail and throw away the key.”

For adults, a poster from http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a3a4d33e55a46.htm recommends the following (if it is to an SS agent unaccompanied by an officer of the law, I would not permit entry, however):

Please sir, your opinion of the card I carry in my wallet:

“If I am a suspect in a criminal matter, please advise me. If so, I wish to contact my attorney.

“If I am under arrest, I request you to so advise me and to inform me of the reason or reasons. I will not resist an arrest.

“I do NOT consent to a search of my person or property. However, I will not physically resist or obstruct such a search. If you have a warrant. I request to see it at this time.  (my note: I would, however, resist and obstruct a search intended by an agent unaccompanied by a police officer.)

“I will cooperate with you fully, but I do not waive any of my rights including my right to remain silent. I will not sign a waiver-of-rights form, nor admit or deny any allegations, nor make any written or oral statement unless my attorney is personally present and advises me to do so."

You would want to add that you will also not permit the interrogation of your children without legal counsel present (see In Re Gault).
